Achromatic

Brand Strategy, Social Media Strategy, Content Planning
A content strategy that repositioned a DC music promoter from event-announcer to cultural tastemaker.
Project Overview
Achromatic had strong bookings but no editorial identity. Just an events feed with no reason to engage beyond "is there a show this week." I repositioned the brand from event-announcer to cultural tastemaker, building a content strategy rooted in artist education and storytelling rather than solely promotion.
The core of that strategy was creating four original, recurring content series, each designed to serve a different piece of the brand's cultural voice:
- Sound In Color — artist interview series tied to show headliners
- Local Signal — spotlighting DMV-based talent and scene contributors
- Evolution of [Genre] — short-form educational content tracing the history and lineage of the genres Achromatic books
- Setting The Frequency — behind-the-scenes countdown series capturing the human, unglamorous work behind the shows
I conceived all four formats and lead their ongoing production, with day-to-day involvement ranging from full end-to-end coordination and on-site directing (Sound In Color) to independently handling research, filming, and editing (Evolution of [Genre]). Plus the editorial systems and calendars that keep all four running without added headcount.
Results
- Instagram following grew from 960 to 1,200+ (+25%) within one month of the repositioning
- Four original series now run as Achromatic's signature editorial identity
- Shifted brand perception measurably from "show announcements" to "cultural authority"
